My faith in my reason for being. It is what guides me through good and bad times, and it reassures me that I am never alone. I have been a member of this church my whole life, being baptised here in 1941. This congregation has given me stability, comfort, support and friendship.
My first job was watchmaking, working in my father’s jewellery and giftware shop. He passed away at a young age, after which I successfully ran the business for 30 years.
After selling the business, I was employed by Queensland Parliament as Aide to the Speaker for 18 years, and during the latter part of that time, was appointed protocol officer.
Retirement allowed my wife, Ruth, and myself to take many wonderful trips in our motor home. As I’ve gotten older, my time is kept busy ferrying two of my grandsons to sport and watching their games. I especially love the conversations I have with them in the car.
'Teach me to do what you want, because you are my God. Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground' (Psalm 143:10).

Everyone at Nazareth Lutheran Church, South Brisbane, has welcomed me with open, friendly arms, and two years on, I continue to feel like part of a family.
I feel close to God when I sit in this beautiful church on Sunday mornings, and listening to the word of God through Pastor Chris helps me reset for the week ahead.
I personally try to live by Philippians 2:3,4: ‘Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of others.’
I love playing golf with my mates, tennis with my two sons, reading when I have time, and gardening.

I was looking for a church in the area and visited for the first time with my daughter. After the service, I was welcomed and invited to come back. The people are so friendly and the church is close to everything. After worship, we share a cup of tea and meet new people.
I became a Christian because my father was the pastor of our village church, and I enjoyed supporting his mission. I have God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit in my life, and we have a personal relationship. I pray to God, and my prayers are answered sometimes in mysterious ways. God saved me from a bank holdup once, by diverting me from my bank appointment just in time.
In PNG, I was asked to run in an election to represent my people – a big responsibility that I was humbled to accept. I work in aged care, which I love because I love to give the residents care. I enjoy looking after my grandchildren and their dog Eli.
