Volunteering
Volunteering is a lovely way to make a contribution to church life while meeting new people and making friends.
Our volunteers find ways to serve the congregation that match their interests and strengths, including singing as a cantor, playing the pipe organ, being a greeter/usher at Sunday worship, serving morning tea, curating historic photographs, coordinating the roster, coordinating weddings, serving on committees, hosting small groups, eg, our Spiritual Book Club; and lots more.

Baptisms, Confirmations, Weddings and Funerals
With a history spanning more than 160 years, Nazareth Lutheran Church holds a special place in the lives of many families and our wider community.
Baptisms and Confirmations
We warmly welcome enquiries about baptisms and confirmation lessons for both children and adults. Whether you are continuing a family connection with Nazareth, exploring your faith, or wishing to take the next step in your Christian journey, we would love to hear from you. Confirmation preparation provides an opportunity to grow in faith, understanding and connection with the Christian community.
Weddings
Nazareth is first and foremost a church, a place of worship and Christian community. We welcome enquiries from Lutheran couples wishing to be married at Nazareth according to Lutheran rites. Wedding enquiries are considered in keeping with the church's purpose and ministry.
Funerals
We can also assist with Lutheran funeral services, providing a setting to give thanks for a life, remember a loved one and find comfort in Christian hope.
Inquiries and Arrangements
If you would like to discuss a baptism, confirmation lessons, a wedding or a funeral at Nazareth Lutheran Church, please contact our church office. We can discuss your circumstances, availability, fees and the requirements and conditions that apply to each service.
Social Activities
Many Nazareth members participate in activities throughout the week to learn, encourage each other, serve together and enjoy each other's company. There are opportunities catering for all age groups and interests.
Do be sure to always check our Event Calendar for up-to-date information about what’s on, when and where, in case of rescheduling or cancellations.
Bible Study
Join Pastor Chris at 1:00pm each Wednesday in the Vestry (Office Building) for Bible Study.
If you like, arrive earlier - from 12:30pm - to join Pastor for a bring-your-own lunch and a chat; then relax and enjoy fellowship with a friendly group of like minded people. Ages range from 30-70ish.
Bible Study is generally paused over Christmas, and resumes in early February.
Keep your eye on our events diary and our weekly Bulletin (contact us to get on the email list), for times when Bible Study is paused (including when Pastor is at Synod and annual Pastor Conference).

Other Activities
Our members are a social bunch - we gather for long table lunches, and groups go ice skating, hiking, and gather for picnics, BBQs, Mini Golf, Bowling, lunches, an Escape Room, a Board Games Day, Karaoke, Laser Tag and Bowling.
Triple C – Ladies’ Fellowship
Ladies fellowship meets at 9.30am on the first Tuesday of each month for coffee, craft and chat.
This group aims to enrich the spiritual life of its members and also serve the congregation, the wider church and the community. Our church backgrounds are varied including Lutheran, Uniting and Anglican and we welcome newcomers from any Christian faith.
Each year we make palm crosses to hand out on Palm Sunday – this usually includes lots of laughing and chatting.

Nazareth Book Club
Join our diverse group of readers for our famous Book Club, held on a Saturday in our Hall from 10am, four times a year. This is a facilitated event with refreshments provided. This event is free, best (due to topics covered in the books) for adults 18+.
Books we've read and discussed include

- The Pearl, by John Steinbeck
- Homecoming, by Kate Morton
- The Shell Seekers, by Rosamunde Pilcher
- Burial Rites, by Hannah Kent
Our facilitators are warm and approachable and they facilitate these events with a light touch.
The session usually starts with a question to test the vibe of book reactions with: what is the one (or two) words that best sum up the book to you?
While we don't follow a script, we usually explore the following:
- what challenged you?
- did you find compassion, hope or love?
- did it make you think about how God works through people?
- where there circumstances you could relate to?
- where do you see God in this book?
Most importantly, there are no wrong answers, and the session provides an opportunity to listen as well as share.

Our Men's group hosts a number of functions for Nazareth men, their friends, and Lutheran men of other congregations - and some events are open to all including a State of Origin pizza night.

The Longest Lutheran Lunch
Held each year on Reformation Sunday, this is another opportunity for Nazareth members, friends and visitors of all ages to socialise and enjoy each other’s company over a meal.
