Volunteering
Volunteering is a lovely way to make a contribution to church life while meeting new people and making friends.
Our volunteers find ways to serve the congregation that match their interests and strengths, including singing as a cantor, playing the pipe organ, being an usher at Sunday worship, serving morning tea, curating historic photographs, coordinating the roster, coordinating weddings, serving on committees, coordinating Safe Church certifications and training, and lots more.
Baptisms and Confirmations
With Nazareth's 160-year-long history, the families of former members regularly request to hold baptisms and confirmations (children and adult) in the church. Please contact us to discuss your needs.
We are often asked about use of the Church as a Wedding Chapel. Our primary purpose is as a Church. We welcome inquiries from Lutherans seeking to be married in the Church, with Lutheran Rites.
For information on having a baptism, confirmation, wedding or funeral at Nazareth Lutheran Church, pricing and what terms and conditions apply, please contact our office.
Social Activities
Many Nazareth members participate in activities throughout the week to learn, encourage each other, serve together and enjoy each other's company. There are opportunities catering for all age groups and interests. After worship each Sunday, we share morning tea in Nazareth Hall, which is a lovely way to connect with friends, enjoy Christian fellowship and meet new people.Wednesday Bible Study takes place during the day to focus on God’s word and encourage each other in a life of faith. We also have women's fellowship group who meet monthly, a men's fellowship group, an Under 40's Group with a regular meetup and who enjoy social activities together, a Spiritual Book Club, and quarterly seminars on Social Ethics & God's Commands.
Do be sure to always check our Event Calendar for up-to-date information about what’s on, when and where, in case of rescheduling or cancellations.
Wednesday Bible Study Group
Join Pastor Chris at 1:45pm each Wednesday in Nazareth Hall for Bible Study.
When you arrive you'd be welcomed and invited to help yourself to a coffee or tea - then relax and enjoy fellowship with a friendly group of like minded people. Ages range from 30-70ish.
Bible Study is generally paused over Christmas, and resumes in early February.
Keep your eye on our events diary and our weekly Bulletin (contact us to get on the email list), for times when Bible Study is paused (including when Pastor is at Synod and annual Pastor Conference).
We welcome your inquiry - contact us here.
Under 40's Group
We have a growing cohort who are under 40 years of age. Our 'Under 40s Group' meets on a regular basis (first Friday of each month from 6pm, for a casual drop in get together at Nazareth Hall), and for social activities organised by group members.
In 2025 they've been ice skating and hiking and enjoying picnics. In 2024 activities include BBQs, Mini Golf, Bowling, lunches, an Escape Room, a Board Games Day, Karaoke, Laser Tag and Bowling.
If you have any questions, or would like to join in, please phone the office on (07) 3391 2854.
Triple C – Ladies’ Fellowship
Ladies fellowship meets at 9.30am on the first Tuesday of each month for coffee, craft and chat.
This group aims to enrich the spiritual life of its members and also serve the congregation, the wider church and the community. Our church backgrounds are varied including Lutheran, Uniting and Anglican and we welcome newcomers from any Christian faith.
Each year we make palm crosses to hand out on Palm Sunday – this usually includes lots of laughing and chatting.
The Triple C Ladies organise and host our end of year Christmas Carols in the Church in early December - open to all - with refreshments in Nazareth Hall afterwards. Keep an eye on our Events Diary on our website, or contact the office for more information.

Join our diverse group of readers for our famous Spiritual Book Club, held on a Saturday in our Hall from 10am, four times a year. This is a facilitated event with refreshments provided. This event is free, best (due to topics covered in the books) for adults 18+.

- The Pearl, by John Steinbeck, (14/9/24)
- Homecoming, by Kate Morton, (15/3/25)
- The Shell Seekers, by Rosamunde Pilcher, (14/6/25)
- Burial Rites, by Hannah Kent, (9/8/25
Our facilitator, Helen Brinkman, is warm and approachable and facilitates these events with a light touch.
Helen usually starts each session with a question to test the vibe of book reactions with: what is the one (or two) words that best sum up the book to you?
We generally also like to talk about this question: where do you see God in this book?
While Helen doesn't follow a script, she usually explores the following:
- what challenged you?
- did you find compassion, hope or love?
- did it make you think about how God works through people?
- where there circumstances you could relate to?
Most importantly, there are no wrong answers, and the session provides an opportunity to listen as well as share.
If you're attending we appreciate RSVPs for catering purposes - don't forget to let us know of any food allergies or preferences.
Thanks to Helen Brinkman for her enthusiastic and talented facilitation of this important social and fellowship opportunity in our calendar.
